The following section is where free form comments are added and attachments are made. HOMOLOGATOR'S REMARKS Give details of any variations of IWSF rules. List any alterations to the course, etc. duringthe competition. List any malfunction of equipment. Give any further information which might affect the Tournament Council's assement of the homologation. Homologation notice was posted before the tournament, but hand-written. Computer printer was not up yet. Round 1 of slalom was run on 2 lakes. On Lake #3, the main tournament lake, the cl. video was not up and running until about the 3rd women slalomer. On Lake #2, the cl. video recorded at the camera, and may not have been adequately magnified. Hi-8 format was used on Lake #2, as the slaloms were run simultaneously, and there wasn't enough proper video equipment. For Rounds 2 and 3, all was OK, with all events being run on Lake #3. Early rounds of jumping had problems with spurious triggering from unknown items, probably metal on the bottom, or old sunken magnets. Site was only about 1.5m deep. By relocating the pickup wands higher in the boat, the problem was 'solved'. Slalom in Round 1 had similar problems, but not enough to affect the flow of the event significantly or cause rerides. The original jump boat began to have performance problems in jumping, and was replaced. After some testing, the Olaf Bottcher video trick timer was used. This device allows a judge to select the frame of the first movement, and then stops at the 20 second frame, and also shows a replay of the last few frames. Although better than manual judging, the system still needs improving, since the images are in black & white and not sharp. Jump ramp had a white painted line from 6.60 to 6.80 meters, with tics at 6.60, 6.65, 6.70, 6.75, and 6.80. There were no marks at less than 6.60m. This ramp is the Pro Tour ramp, a portable ramp manufactured by Rob Bemman of Winter Haven, FL. Although there was a mark on the ramp at approximately the Cl., being the water pipe, there was a more accurate measured mark scratched & higlighted by marker pen at the actual center. The ramp position was determined by Distance & Angle with an EDM theodolite, and a survey prism held at the top Cl. After the original survey shot in the AM of Round 1, the ramp was rechecked in the AM of both subsequent rounds, and found to be within 1cm of the previous reading. Because of the wakes, esp. wakeboarding wakes, the ramp was re-tightened in the morning of Round 2. Only a very small adjustment to 'open' the ramp was needed the morning of Round 3, in which round the World Record performance was achieved. Ramp has height marked in inches, scribed onto small angle beams hanging down, supplied by the manufacturer. The given heights at 1.73 and 1.83m are converted from 5 ft. 8 in., and 6 ft. 0 in., rounded to the nearest cm. Because of the shallow water, allowing walking on the bottom, the ramp worker was able to adjust foam and get settings exactly as specified, within 1/4 in on height and 1cm on length out of water. The length out of water is adjustable by a crank system (however, see later note). Ramp 1.5m settings are NA, as this was not an available option for the women jumpers. Note that the length out of water at 6.75m is for Round 2, Saturday 6/24, where Scot Ellis went 230 ft., for a possible US Record. Other rounds, it was 6.79m. For Round 2, the ramp's length adjusting trolley line failed, during the transition from women to men jumping, and it was necessary to stuff foam under the low end of the ramp. Once the length out of water was OK, the adjusting stopped, so as to make for no more delay. Because of the quality of the competition, the 40m test buoy for womens jump was set at 45m, and the 60m test buoy for mens jump was set at 65m. They were set on the approx. centerline, in order to get them out of the way and also out of the way of the trick boat path. The 45m buoy surveyed at 44.87m, and the 65m buoy surveyed at 64.88. At the start of each jump event, they were checked on the VJ screen, and varied between 44.9-45.0 and 64.9 -65.0 depending on the operator's judgment. RECORDS: A new womens world jump record by Toni Neville was applied for. This distance was marked by the video event judges at 52.6m, although it could go higher, as it appears to be from a later capture off the video tape at about first contact. Britta Llewellyn posted a distance marked at 52.4 that was sent in for a possible EAME record. Emma Sheers was marked at 52.5, also exceeding the current record, but short ofToni Neville. No form was submitted, altough the pertinent data exists as a backup.
