I've been doing some experimenting with VJ under both Windows 2000 Professional, as well as with Windows XP Home Edition, and am finding a number of compatibility issues that will need to be resolved.

The first of these is that many of the Video Cpature devices available do not come with a device driver that's compatible with Win 2000 or Win XP. Some have drivers that are available for download, but not many.

Second issue is that most of these devices which come with Drivers that ARE compatible with Win 2000 or Win XP, are using WDM drivers -- and there seems to be some issue there that limits the allowed capture resolution to 320x240. I've seen a note about an update for Win XP to supposedly solve this, but I've updated my system in all respects thru the update site last week and the 320x240 ceiling is still there. This issue does not appear with the non-WDM compatible devices that run under XP or 2000 -- but I've only found one device (pinnacle PCTV) which will work that way.

Bottom line at this point -- recommend y'all stick with Windows 98 second edition until the pro's out there figure out all the answers on how to make this stuff work properly with Win2000 and WinXP.
